G’day, G’bowl mate!

December 1, 2009

UPDATED Update: Look for the press conference release soon. Auburn has accepted a bid to represent the SEC in the Outback Bowl in Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium on January 1st, 2010. The popular rumor right now is for Wisconsin to represent the Big 10 (11), in what would be the third meeting of the two schools this decade. Auburn and Wisconsin have split their last two meetings.

War Eagle!! Congrats to the Auburn Tigers for what should be a great ending to a wonderful foundation year.

UPDATE: Multiple Auburn bloggers and newsfeeds are now reporting it is all but signed, sealed and delivered like an Outback Steakhouse special. Auburn should face Wisconsin in the Tigers first appearance in Tampa since facing Penn State in 1996. The “normal” alignment would have put a SEC East team against the Big 10 (11), but in a story that has yet to unfold, Auburn gets the nod.

Is Auburn Outback Bowl bound? It appears an announcement is forth-coming today. That is certainly a departure from the rumored likes of Shreveport, Birmingham or Nashville.

If it is true, and the Vols got passed over – absolutely priceless!
